What Can Animals Teach us About Why We Binge Eat?

Guest: Mary Boggiano, PhD., Associate professor-Dept. of Psychology & Assoc. Scientist, UAB Clinical Nutrition Research Center Host: Ellen Shuman, Founder/Coach – A Weigh Out

There are binge prone rats and binge resistant rats. Might this explain why you binge and other people do not?

Are some of us more susceptible to food cues in the environment than others?

What are we learning about the impact of food restriction (dieting) and stress on binge eating? Might the combination of the two change the brain’s sensitivity to high sugar-high fat foods, increasing the reward we get when we eat them? Could that be one reason why it’s so hard to stop bingeing?

Join us for an excited glimpse into the mind and research of one of the world’s top researchers in the field of binge eating. Learn what she’s discovered in her lab about the biology and physiology of binge eating.
