When Is It A Binge Eating Disorder?
Free 1-Hour Telephone Seminar
We've called our struggles with food by many different
names -- binge eating, compulsive eating, emotional eating, food addiction. By any name, it's painful to live with! When the struggle feels all-consuming and negatively impacts the way we want to live, there may be a Binge Eating Disorder present. (Binge Eating Disorder Signs and Symptoms)
In the past, it was assumed that everyone who was a binge eater, or engaged in compulsive eating on a regular basis, had a willpower problem. We were told to "eat less and exercise more". If we summoned up the courage to tell the doctor that we thought we had a food addiction, we were handed a 12-hundred calorie diet and an exercise prescription. But, the treatment didnt fit the problem. We didn't lack willpower. We had a Binge Eating Disorder
and no DIET in the world would fix that.
How do you begin to overcome compulsive eating or food addiction? We recommend reading these articles, Confessions of a Binge Eater and Beyond Fen-Phen and Redux. We also highly recommend taking our Free Telephone Seminar on Emotional Eating. It's a great way for binge eaters to gather a lot of information in one hour's time about emotional eating and Binge Eating Disorder.
